Spiegler brake lines for K75C 1986

Hello all

My bike is a K75C 1986 usa model ( non abs, rear drum brake)
I need new front brake lines, and spiegler seems to be good.
In their online catalog they don't have a kit for 1986, but for 1988-1990, it seems ok to me, and i think the K75C has never been changed, but i would like to hear your opinions...

Any other brand that can be less expensive but good?

Unless you're the original owner, there's no telling if the brakes have been modified by previous owners until you inspect them. Email Spiegler asking them how to measure the brake lines, then go line-by-line collecting the measurements. Send them to Spiegler and ask if they have a kit that fits those measurements; if they don't, they'll fabricate some.

Rear brake line length was changed by BMW when a section of metal brake line was removed. Sometimes front calipers receive fluid by separate lines from a Y-pipe; sometimes they receive fluid via a direct line from the master cylinder to one of the calipers then through a metal pipe bridging the fender from that caliper to the other.

Agree, Spiegler is the way to go.
I received a 50% off a set of brake pads from Spiegler at a rally a number of years ago.
Called them up with the coupon number, ordered the brake pads and a set of SS brake lines for my '93 K75S w/ABS.  Very impressed with the quality of the lines and CL pads.

I put Spengler lines on some of my bikes.  Per their instructions, I just took off the lines and fittings and mailed them to Spengler.  They shipped my old stuff back along with perfect fitting new lines.  Pretty easy.

Drake, that’s about what I did.  I just used a double banjo bolt right at the front master cylinder and ran 2 Spengler stainless steel braided lines, one to each caliper.  Brakes are much improved and have been working flawlessly since 2011.

What Drake described is not exactly close to what you did if you ran a separate line to each caliper. There is only one line from the master cylinder.

Please post some photos of your setup. It seems unique.

It’s not unique at all.  I purchased a double banjo bolt from Spiegler and used it with 3 crush washers at the front master cylinder.  Two lines attached, each running to one of the front calipers.  Super simple.  I did it to eliminate the problems I was experiencing getting the air out. I’ve bleed hundreds of brake systems, but this particle one had an issue.  I’d tried everything else and decided this was the way to solve it.  And it did.   It’s worked beautifully ever since 10 years now.  Really nothing to take pictures of.

I got mine directly from Speigler to match their banjo bolts.  If anyone is actually interested in doing the double line, May I suggest just contacting Speigler directly by phone.  They are very helpful, fully knowledgeable and ready to assist.  And then the entire system of lines and fittings is matched.

Pulled the image from Speigler, so they're available if needed.
I'm missing something, even with a non compressible fluid, it seems like the stock MC wouldn't move enough volume to actuate both brake piston sets with authority. How's the "feel" of the brakes?

They feel fine and stop very good.  I think I made that change in 2011, so it’s been 10 years working just fine.  Sorry I don’t have a pic, but just talk to the guys at Speigler.  Tell them what you want to accomplish and they set you up with everything you need.  Just to be sure, I sent in my old brake lines to them.
