Rear wheel swap
« on: April 04, 2021, 03:08:58 AM »
Hello guys, im looking to fit a R1100GS/R1150GS rear wheel to my brick. I understand the 1150 rear will fit but will the rear from a R1100GS fit as the wheel looks similar but is half the price here in the UK.
thx Bupton

Welcome, Bupton.

The usual reference for this type of conversion is this video. There is a text synopsis of this video. Here's an extract from it and its translation.

Finding a modern tubeless spoke wheel is not easy. Such wheels are produced by the Italian company Kineo and BMW for the GS-series motorcycles. Both variants have a unique patented design and excellent quality, but we chose BMW wheels from R1100GS.

And a beautiful specimen it is, too. You indicate you've read about the 1150 rear wheel being used. Was that on a "fixed rear hub?" The 1200 has a paralever rear drive just like the 1150's. It looks like you might become a pioneer with this conversion.  icon_cheers
