Anyone know of a 3.5mm bolt on a K75?
« on: January 05, 2021, 03:56:28 PM »
Apologies in advance for the left-field question ... am in temporary need of a 3.5mm bolt (0.5mm pitch) in order to work on cam chain tensioner on an '84 Honda ATC (Big Red). This was a common size on older metric indicators for example, but I no longer have any. I removed one from the rear K75 indicator but unfortunately it is the coarse thread plastic screw type, and sold my Moto Guzzi (and all spare parts) last year. Smallest metric I can find locally is 4mm.

So for a bonus point - does anyone know of a reasonably accessible bolt of said descript that might be temporarily pilfered ... approx. 1" or longer ..?

Wishing all a better new year!

Only temporarily (should such a bolt exist) ... would only be needed for a few minutes and then returned to donor with thanks! I used to have a box of all kinds of turn signals etc and am sure there must have been one in there somewhere ... so, as the saying goes - never throw anything out - and think twice about giving it away (unless in a good cause, which it was) ...

The light switches and power sockets in domestic and industrial buildings are fixed to the wall normally by 2 x3.5mm threaded screws. The wiring in the buildings terminate in metal or plastic boxes that the switch or socket are fixed by the 3.5 mm screws.  It originated from the change to metric.  They used to be fixed with a BA 4? thread but they changed to 3.5 mm as they more or less fitted the old Ba thread and were inter interchangeable in this situation
