Water in Oil
« on: November 26, 2011, 10:59:07 PM »
Changed the oil the other night, rode it 22 miles the next day, shut it down and put it up on the center stand and noticed the oil looked milky in the window and the filler cap had a nice milky film on it as well. Is it more likely that it would be the water pump seal or the intake manifold or even something else? The odometer just turned 45,500. According to the previous owner this bike sat idle for approx. 2yrs., I've been shaking it out pretty good for the past 2 months, outside of a minor fluxuation in the throttle at idle this engine has shown no signs of trouble until now.

Water/oil pump seal.  Pretty common these days as they're all getting old....
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

I'm sure your problem is as what Frankenduck said. My K100rs had the same problem within the milage range you now have.  I think the former owner had let the bike sit for sometimes and was not very honset about this particular problem upon purchasing. I bit the bullet and bought a new unit rather then rebuild the old one. I kept the old unit, perhaps someday I will try and rebuild it. Good luck, Kenray in Katy TX.
