WTB LH Case Holder Hardware
« on: April 07, 2020, 09:11:14 PM »
While installing a new shock yesterday I took the opportunity to lube the splines.  With the wheel and FD remove I saw that the LH case holder had some non-standard hardware attaching it on the top and the rubber mount was missing the rear spacer.

The case holder may have been removed or replaced at one time at the power sports shop where this bike was stored for years. I suspect they must have lost the original nuts and bolts and broke the spacer off the rubber mount in the process.

If anyone has the rubber mount (#9) I'd like to buy it.  It's still listed for sale but at over $40 I'll fabricate a spacer if I can't find one.  I can't find a listing for the top bolt/nut so if anyone has that or knows the proper size it would help.

#9 is a muffler hanger.  What is holding your muffler now?  I've seen them on ebay.  They aren't all that rare.

As far as the upper mount, I would think it's a 6mm filletster head with a few flat washers and a wave washer.  That's what is on my bikes.

Twelve bucks.

BTW, what model are you working on?
Thanks much, looks like they are they all the same and will fit my K75S.   Just thought I would try here first.

The hanger (rubber mounting) is still there just without the rear spacer using one small, non-original bolt run through it into the bracket.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you have. Do you have the hanger?  Or don't you?  What do you have?  Can you post a photo?

This should all be pretty simple.  There are two 6x40mm screws that attach the muffler hanger(#9) and the tragkorb mount(#2) to the footpeg plate.  The screws each have a 6mm nut and a wave washer.  The muffler is attached to the hanger's stud with an 8mm nut.

Is all this stuff on a K75S?

Yes it is simple and on my '94 K75S.  I just need a replacement for my hanger which is missing the rear spacer and have purchased the one you found on eBay.

I have two bricks, am able to compare and know that the rear spacer as indicated by the arrow is missing along with the screw for the front spacer.  The previous "fix" was to run a non-standard screw through the rear hole where the spacer attaches to the hangar and secure the case holder.

Volador, the difference is that when the case bracket is not there the spacers need to be about 8mm longer to keep the muffler in the same location on the bike.

Stokester, the photo clears it up!  The spacer broke off.  To me it looks like the right spacer, when you said rear I thought you were talking about the back side of the hanger.

If it were mine, I would just repair it with a short piece of 1/8" brass pipe.
