Luggage model identification and removal
« on: March 05, 2020, 10:29:34 PM »
Ok, so I wimped out cuz it's cold in the garage and I'm tired.  Looking quickly at these I found no identification.  Only a sticker inside and and printed in German.  Can someone tell me the brand, model, and how to take them off?  The bike came with three sets and I want to try the others on.

The one in the photo looks like a type 3 with the lock facing out and a flip up handle.  Type 2 have the lock facing in and the handle lifts up and down.

To get them off, unlock the clamp at the lower front of the case and open it.  Slide the case back a couple inches and lift up and out.  A bit of wiggling is usually necessary on my bikes to get the case out from under the turn signal.

Patience is important, it took me over a year before I figured out the trick to getting them on and off the bike without taking 5 minutes.   As hard as they are to remove, they seem to have no problem coming of when you are heading down the road, especially the scarce City Cases, of which I have lost two so far.

Come on now. Post some photos of the others.  :laughing4-giggles:

Those in your photo have the largest capacity of the three standard types. There are also developments in keeping them attached to the moto without using an aerial suspension system comprised of bungee cords and eye bolts.  These refined and sturdy latch keepers were inspired by a homegrown model made from wood. Their purpose is to keep the latch firmly engaged with the Z-rack.

Cool and good to know.  Thanks Martin!  They are all in decent shape with the exception of the layer of garage dust.  Looking forward to trying them out.  icon_cheers

Put a piece of rope through the handle of the city cases and tie them to the bike.  For some reason they have a way of getting off the bike when you aren't looking.  I learned this the hard way...
...twice, once with about $100 of tools in it.   The lock doesn't stop them from escaping either.
