Hello
1984bmwk100
In my 1993 K1100RS, I saw some oil near the seam between the engine and the transmission housing after a ride. There was oil under the transmission too, but since that could have just dripped down I went to a car wash bay, cleaned everything and left the bike overnight. Now I see that under the transmission I don't see any oil, but there is oil near the seam, but NOT exactly at the seam.
On closer inspection it seems to be coming from somewhere above and it looks like it is from the narrow cavity that is in front of the alternator, most likely from near the bolt inside. What does this mean? Any clues on what should I check next? I am attaching a picture.
Earlier, I noticed that some of the bolts that connect the transmission and engine were loose. Perhaps tightening this hidden bolt can solve the issue? I am afraid of over torquing it and breaking this hidden bolt.
