iconic top-case
« on: November 09, 2019, 02:12:12 PM »

A question for all the opinionated (aren't we all?):
does the iconic top-case remain so if color-matched to scoot and saddle bags?
I'd hate to have a less-than-iconic top-case.

Iconic or not needs to match the rest of the moto and paniers
Looks like your hauling around a Weber back there

greetings...

the iconic 22 and the system cases ought notta be painted...

manly motobrickers do not ride wearing or ride on color coordinated ensembles...

Peh Feh! If it's the sloped-bottomed, cramped, rattling, cover-popping, pin-attached 22l, it's iconic; however, a case can be made that an iconic case's iconic paint job would be a body panel/tank-colored lid over black compartment but as has been indicated, color-matching tends to kindle profiling.

A color matched iconic 22 liter top case says something about the owner.  Not sure what that is, but I am pretty sure it's not real good.

I would prefer side cases colour coded to match your top case.

When the owner roll up with color matching paniers and top case on the brick it says "Tres Chic" a hip metrosexual motobricker!

Unlike retrosexual motobrickers all color discombobulated probably don't even have matching soxs.
Isn't there a football game on some where?

That's it!  Does the Tres chic hipster match the iconic 22 liter top case to his lip gloss or his eye shadow?

Colors, stickers, badges, the 22l's iconism remains unscathed. The owner, however, is not to be shielded from ridicule.

For the ultimate look try decoupage or stick sea shells on them for that nautical look.

That would look cute camouflage and sea shells quite a fashion statement!
Maybe we could send Chaos some sea shells.

just the insightful and colorful dialogue I was hoping for.
maybe I'll paint the bottom and leave the top black.
maybe I'll rivet a shoulder strap to it and carry it where ever I roam.
possibilities are endless............
cheers

Hey Chaos,

Did you amputate the lid and sew it on backwards, then hasp and staple it?

Did you get that idea from Idi Amin?

Is that why you're known as Chaos?

And I thought I was rough as guts. I hate to admit it, but that seems like a good idea,  and remains iconic.

Yup.  Reversed it after it blew open on the highway and I lost my rainsuit, tuna sandwich and winning powerball ticket.  My next project will be reversing the engine so the crank is on the left side, that will keep it from smoking when left on the sidestand.

That is easy - leave the engine where it is and move the side stand to the other side... :johnny

A bigger challenge will be steering while riding backwards at high speed. And you'll have to re-reverse the iconic 22 l.

One advantage is, your splines might last longer, with the force being applied on the other side.
