WARNING on Chicom reservoir hose.
« on: October 04, 2019, 03:48:25 AM »
BE WARNED. I  was investigating a weep coming from just below the adaptor that went between the OEM reservoir hose and the Chinese hose. As I tried to wipe where the leak was occurring the hose just split and dumped the contents of the reservoir on the garage floor. I went to my favorite local brake guy to go and get a new hose and some brake fluid. He had a look at the split hose and said it was definitely not rated for brake fluid and said it was dangerous in this application. He shook his head when I said it had been supplied with the master cylinder.

Would make me question the master cylinder.

The master cylinder's seem to be fine and the hose has been fine for 2 years plus. But I know a couple of guys who can check it out.

In my experience with air-cooled VWs and BMW motorcycles most brake reservoir lines are blue.

The new one is black and marked as brake hose and is four times thicker. It will probably outlast me if not the Brick.

Most of those are fed to Tofurkeys. The Chicoms buy the rejects.
