Unknown part fell off in gear selector shaft assembly
« on: September 14, 2019, 06:57:08 AM »
Hi Everyone ! I've already posted a similar post on the K100 forum but maybe i'll have more luck of over !

After some issues with my gear selector, the K100 forum hinted to me that the grub screw might be at fault. After dismentling the gearbox, I've found that it was in perfect working order but the mechanism on which it was fixed was missing a clip and a guide ! That's why the shifting wasn't happening properly.

I've found both of the pieces inside the gearbox, fortunately they didnt damaged anything ! But now I've no idea of how to handle it since i've found non forum post about this, I don't even find the reference of it on realOEM.com ? My first guess would be to put it back in with some loctite since it doesn't look broken.

Any adivce would be welcome :)

Thank you very much!

It looks like the pin that connects the shift bracket to the selector. Get acquainted with MaxBMW's parts fiche.

Thank you for your help !
Unfortunately it is not this Rod, but the clip is the one coming next to the item 9 & 10, which is not pictured in the drawing. Its quite à mystery, I'll follow the link you posted, thank you !

I'm pretty sure the circlip #10 on the fiche attaches to the pin.

I'd tap the hole for a screw, but would figure that roughing up the pin and installing it with red Loctite after a real good cleaning with brake cleaner would work as well.
