Here we go again... No start.

Tried to go to work yesterday, bike kicked over, sorta caught a little, and went to just cranking.

Unlike last time, I can't hear the fuel pump.  Today, I opened the tank and held it while cranking. Does not feel alive.

Fuses are good, wires are attached, 4-pin has been checked and rechecked.  Do I blame the pump yet?

With a multimeter or a test light check to see if you are getting power to the pump when you press the starter button.

Then if no power at the pump, check for power at the fuse.

Then you will know whether to start hunting upstream or downstream.

Good advice but be careful.  You don't want to be putzing around with test leads inside the tank.  There is always the risk of sparks no matter what the voltage with bad results.  Better to fasten a couple of long wires to the terminals on the pump and test outside the tank.

Check also good connectivity at the fuel tank connector under the right battery cover.  The pins might not be making contact.  If in doubt, replace the connector with a waterproof one.

Well, sonofabitch.

There was no power at the pump. Went to test the forepin.  And it ran.

It's the bastard connector.

I squished the barrels a little, and it runs now. I'm going to look at replacing it. What's the preferred solution? Weatherpak?

Just use any good quality waterproof four pin connector, any electronics shop should stock them. You might have to buy a good set of suitable crimpers. Don't be tempted to solder them as soldering reduces the flexibility of the joint, this can increase the chance of the wire breaking.
