647 paint scheme color?
« on: November 01, 2018, 04:07:46 PM »
Can anyone tell me what color is associated with paint scheme code 647.  I can't seem to find it listed anyplace.  Paint scheme code was on a 1994 K75.

According to BMBikes, it's Tobacco Brown. :giggles

When I searched for this 647 scheme code, the only place it showed up was on a K100rt or a k100lt, and it was for Tobaco Brown.
The bike is diffenately not brown.
I was looking for the color code so that I could paint the side battery covers.  I believe I'll take it to a local pait store and see if they can match the color.
Thanks for your help

What color do you see in places like under the insulation on the bottom of the tank?

I would look really close at the tail cowl to see if it is a repaint.  It's possible the cowl is from another bike and was carefully repainted to match the rest of the bike.  It's not that hard to do a nice masking job on the stickers on the cowl.  I just use an X-Acto knife, a steel straightedge and 3M Fineline tape.

What color does the title show?  That usually doesn't change when an owner repaints in a different color.  In some places it's almost impossible even to get a color change updated on the registration, let alone the title.

My reference was this. The seat on your moto doesn't seem original; maybe the tail cowl isn't original either, which is essentially what Gryph has already indicated but I just wanted to increase the number of syllables in this post. The cowl carries the code number and the surface that is covered by the seat doesn't usually get a finish—at least my moto's cowl looks it didn't. :giggles

Anyway, Gryph also frequently asserts a skilled outfit can match color, or come very close to matching color if provided a sample. If I were to paint my moto, I'd follow his recommendations but I don't want my moto to be attractive. I'm satisfied with its just running well and keeping an untidy low profile.

Your moto is a mighty fine looker though, CNRED.  :2thumbup:

Laitch & Gryphon,
I'm pretty sure this bike is wearing it's original paint. I've beem through the bike from top to bottom, if it ad been repainted, I think I would have noticed, all the original stickers and decals are still in place under the seat, when I pulled back the insur=lation under the tank it is the same color as the top of the tank.
Arizona titles do not list a vehicle's color.
I'm not sure what to think of the paint scheme code mystery, but I think I can get a close match at the paint store.

I'm not sure what to think of the paint scheme code mystery . . .
The only other explanation is your moto's body parts were painted during second-shift on a Friday, the paint department had run out of their various blau code stickers, there were only 10 minutes left in the shift and a completion quota needed to be met, so the nearest stickers at hand were slapped onto your moto with a hearty Schön!, then everybody headed to the pubs after a good laugh.

I am having trouble imagining BMW employees drinking Irish bier after work.
