Kickstand

So, now that the bike runs, I can pay attention to some other things.

My kickstand has been broken and  repaired by having a literal 8 inch eyebolt welded to it. It works, but I have to hunt for it every time, and occasionally it gets tangled in the centerstand. The eyebolt clearly isn't replicating the shape of the original horn.

I have been searching, and found lots of stuff on broken centerstands and replacing them with K1100 or even K1200 bits.  Less so on kickstands.

Is there a common replacement for these things? The  1100 kickstand seems to be a different shape. Does it work?

The 1100 stand is a direct replacement.  I put one on my K75RT to make it a bit easier for this old fart to get it up on the centerstand when it's fully loaded. 

People also replace the earlier version with the 1100 to avoid the rusting out in the legs that has been known to cause stand failure and subsequent drops.

Sounds like you're talking about the centerstand. What about the sidestand? Is it also a direct fit?

Spiffy. I'll start looking for the 1100 bits.

Now that you said it, I think my center stand is also not quite right...

+1  - I went with the K1100 stand on my K100RS.  The tubes on the K100 center stand were worn down and most likely rusted on the inside - a failure waiting to happen.
