ABS rings removal from wheels
« on: September 26, 2018, 02:06:43 PM »
I've removed all ABS guff except ABS rings on wheels.

Anyone know if they just unfasten and wheels go straight back on?

Thanks Laitch - saw that but doesn't quite answer it - refers to taking front ring off but not rear...

I was just wondering if the wheels didn't need anything in place before refitting once removed, spacers or wot not...

Many thanks again Laitch - I also read your article about using Google Search to the site - which brings up much more posts than the forum search - great tip.

1992 K75S front ABS ring removal?
Hi folks-
Found this on another site
It might be helpful.
Bill

For those of you who have replaced the front rotors on a K75 with ABS:
How did you get the ABS ring off the old rotor?

I'm installing new EBC rotors and HH pads. The new rotor comes with mounting screws for the ABS ring and a note saying it must be removed from the old rotor and reused. I took out the mounting screws, but that sucker is on TIGHT and won't budge. My local bike guy tried and couldn't figure it out either, and suggested that I put the rotor in the freezer for a couple of hours, then gently heat the ring with a torch and see if it will pry off. It's in the freezer now.

In the event that I damage it, does anyone know where to find a new ring? None of the parts suppliers show a part number for it.

Thanks,
Rob

While I haven't worked on a 75, when I replace the rear brake disk on my 1100's, there were 3 retaining screws to remove and IIRC I used a heat gun to heat the ring a bit before it separate from the brake disk.
