Hi Folks,
I'm installing a set of Racetech .90 springs with 410cc/leg of 10 wt oil for my '93 Showa fork bike. I weigh 225 lbs. My question involves the re-assembly. No instructions came with the springs.
Okay, drop Racetechs in, then factory washer, then long factory metal spacer tube, then Racetech washer (similar inner/outer diameters to factory washer installed above springs, but 2mm thick instead of factory part's 1mm). Then drop in 15mm PVC spacer (cut from supplied Racetech PVC cut to a size recommended by them via email).
All ok so far, but I'm wondering is the large metal 17mm half-hex-cap-with-the-allen-head-oil-filler- plug combo ONLY held in by that thin clip wire that's barely as thick as a paper clip wire? It's not threaded solidly into the fork? That little clip supports all the forces of a fork slamming and possibly bottoming!? Am I missing something? Thanks.
