Factory Comfort Seat - SOLD
« on: October 10, 2011, 10:37:38 PM »
I acquired this 2V K-bike seat the other day.  I think it is a factory "comfort" seat. It looks a lot like a Corbin touring seat but the seat pan is not a Corbin, it is the factory pan.

If anyone is interested, make me an offer.

Thanks,
Tom

It does NOT look like my factory "comfort" seat.  If it is a factory pan, it looks like someone built a seat on a BMW pan.  It does not have the design in the vinyl that my (and all others I have seen) "comfort" seat has.

Phil - That IS a factory comfort seat. (I've got one just like it.)

As I said, I _think_ it is a factory comfort seat.  I've never seen one until possibly now.

In any case, if someone is interested, please make an offer.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi, Duck,
They must have had two or more suppliers because mine, and all I've seen, while having a similar shape, have a design in the vinyl on both the rider's and passenger's seats.

And this smooth one had a K1100 seat pan. I ran it on my K1100LT for a few months last year.

Exactly like the one on my K11LT but my K100LT which is factory is more like the on described by Phil with the design in it.

My '88 100RT has got one of those fitted.  I just assumed it was what they sold them with back then, didn't realise it was an option.

Very comfy it is too!

Hi, All,
I thought they had one "comfort" seat.  They obviously have at least two.  Mine, while it will fit on a K1100LT, came on my (since sold) K75RT.  It has a design on both the rider's and passenger's seating surfaces, moulded into the vinyl.  Interestingly, I have a K75RTP.  It has a single seat.  The single seat on the bike is the single seat version of the "comfort" seat, complete with the same moulded design on the seat.  I have a "normal" seat also, much harder and with less padding and with no design.

There are mid-run changes in any manufacturing process.  The seat covering change could be a result of that.  Or a model year change.

I really don't have a good idea what year this seat was made, the guy I bought it off of said it came off a '92 K75RT.  Mostly I just wanted the windshield he was selling with it.

That's why I'm selling the seat if anyone is wondering.  Also, I just bought Johnny's old Russel from mysticred (sp?).  It fits the K75 very well too.

Hi, Larry,
I left El Paso about 8:00am Tuesday morning, and arrived in Arlington (TX) around 5:30pm (1 hr. time change).  I'm being poked and prodded in the week before surgery.  Yesterday was a PET scan, tomorrow is a colonoscopy, next Wed. is lab work at the hospital, etc.  I wouldn't be surprised if I get calls to have some other tests, procedures, etc. done before the surgery.

Phil:

you sound remarkably like that purple '95 Joel and I have been poking and prodding for the last 10 months. (And that is far, far better than the silver '96 which we still hope to resurrect).

But we've gotten the '95 to a state of health that is remarkably better than it was and so we're confident that my colleagues in the UT system's medical branch can do even better for you.

Be well.

As mentioned elsewhere, there is a problem on this forum with images that are uploaded as attachments; not with images that are links to external sites. The dude's images are attachments, duck's are external links.

Hi,

I have a Corbin on my recently acquired '88 k75C.  I'm the third owner, the orig. owner was a woman and I think she put a "lower seat"  than factory.  Do you have a pic of the seat and any idea of the height?  Thanks

I've got more that show close-ups of the blemishes, let me know, but I think this gives you the idea of the condition of the seat.

This is a factory standard, not a "low" seat like so many of the K75's seem to have.  If your bike currently has a factory "low" seat, you'll need some additional bits to make this work.  frankenduck or others on the list will know more than I do about converting from a low seat to a standard seat.

Questions?

Just to add my $2 worth - not sure how Motodude can tell by those pics that it a standard seat - as opposed to the comfort model.

I have 2 standard K75's with factory low seats - and also a K75S with a standard seat.

The 2 are not interchangable, really - the comfort has a deeper side pan to help cover the "not fitted" side panels.

The comford seat is also shorter - as it also uses a "rubber" bolt-on pad at the back of the tank, that also doubles as knee pads. This means the seat itself needs to be shorter to incorporate this pad.

I just made the mistake of buying a brand new (old stock) standard seat - no way will it replace the comfort seat - which is what I wanted to do - also the standard seat hinges open on the RHS - whereas the comfort model unclips and removes completely. I thought a K75 seat would fit BOTH models - seems I was wrong!!

Low seats are the ones that remove completely, have a lower seat pan and require a low seat L-Jetronic holder.

Comfort seats hinge at the right side just like the normal seats.
