Con rod bearing shell colour?

Need to order new con rod bearings for my K1100rs -96.

How to determent what colour and STUFE level on the con rod bearings?
I cannot find any colour code anywhere in my engine to tell what bearing size that was fitted. (engine has never been opened before).
Can not find anything in the BMW service manual either.

That's an interesting technical question that might best be answered by somebody having been employed by BMW and familiar with the system. The attached chart shows size ranges. Stufe numbers might correspond to replacements within a size range. Is the attached chart what you were reviewing in your manual? This one is an extract from the BMW repair manual. It was probably expected that whoever was reading it would be able to walk up to a window and say, Give me a green one but wait until after lunch.

Yes, same that I've seen. And also in the manual:

• If bearing shells are renewed, note paint marks
on crankpin and on big end bearing.
• Regrinding stages “0” and “1” are available; the
crankpins are marked with a corresponding
number of paint spots.
• If there are no paint spots, this indicates regrinding
stage “0”.

But it says nothing about how to spot which of the 3 different base dimentions (yellow/green/white) the engine was fitted with.

If I only could know what dimentions the different new PN/colours has it would be easy to meassure out what size bearing I need. Guess I have to ask different BMW shops, not only the one I talked to that did not know.
