Spec summary PDF
« on: August 27, 2018, 05:49:06 PM »
There used to be a PDF on this site with a summary table of most if not all the torque and valve specifications one would need for most K-bike work. It disappeared from this site apparently because some of the values were incorrect. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in resuscitating that document, which I found incredibly helpful and still use despite some of the values being 'off'. I'd be glad to recreate the document in Excel, copying the existing format, and repost as PDF if someone would help by correcting any of the data that's incorrect.

I believe the reason this torque table disappeared from the site might have been that the values marked by the red rectangle in the attached image are reversed. The lower torque value belongs to the upper pinch bolt; the upper value belongs to the lower bolt. Somebody might have broken a fastener and screamed bloody murder. I seem to recall the echos. There was no telling if other transpositions or typos were in the table unless they were all verified by somebody; the table disappeared. Compare values with those in second image from the BMW workshop manual.

From the deleted table:

From the factory workshop manual:
  • Along the Ridley in Vermont.
  • 1995 K75 89,000 miles

Thanks for the heads-up Laitch.  I didn't realize the mistakes.

The values came from the original table but I haven't validated them against the OEM specs.  The conversions should be accurate because they are calculated.  I'll go through the table this week and update it.  Meanwhile I can remove the attachments until that validation work is complete.
