early 85 k100rs vaccuum switch
« on: October 08, 2011, 12:29:22 PM »
Good morning;
I  am the second owner of an early 85 k100rs (euro.) It starts and runs beautifully.When I did my first preventive maintenance, in 2005 the vaccuum switch wire  was unhooked , I replaced the hose and hooked it back up. Then my exdealer attempted to do a tune-up. long story short, since then I got the internet, discoverd B.M.W. discarded the switch all together,so I did also . I can find referance to the switch in my climers book, but no actuall explenation as to it's function.
Was it a joke? Should I run it? It is basically normally open and completes ground with the slightest of vaccuum applied. My timing now, checked with a degreeable timing light is 11 btdc. Before I go any further wondering which route to go. Thank you very much!

Hi,
    BMW discarded the switch and dealers were instructed to bypass it.  That's probably why yours was unplugged.
