Flasher relay for bulbs
« on: July 05, 2018, 03:34:10 AM »
Hello everyone,
Since i have removed the relay for the windshield the indicators now blink at about 4 times per second. I am using light bulbs, not LEDs. Looking to bring down the speed of the signals with a relay but unsure about which one to choose, if any, since the speed will only be reduced by a small amount - not as drastic as a LED reduction. I'm also assuming that "the snip" on a chip that works for a lot of people is only okay for less?
Any advice appreciated

You wrote okay for less above. Did you mean okay for LEDs? Why did you remove the relay? What happens with the signals if you reinstall it?

If you are using regilar bulbs as you state, then one or more of those bulbs are burnt out or open circuit.  The flasher module is working as designed if it hyperflashes under those conditions.

The windshield control circuitry and the turn signal circuitry are independant.  How is it possible to modify one and affect the other?

Thanks for the responses as always, RBM and Laitch.

Sorry for my lack of clarity, Laitch. Yes, I did mean okay "to do" for an LED setup.
I disconnected (with no intention of reconnecting) heat grips and the windscreen, and since then, the indicators have doubled in speed.
I have just guessed that reducing the resistance would increase voltage to the indicators and hence the flash speed.

All globes are lighting up when switched on.
My end goal is to have the 2 new indicators (bulbs) flashing under 2 flashes per second (4 per second currently)

Kind regards
Dale
