Other water cooled bikes that use Bosch? Motto Guzzi?
« on: June 01, 2018, 06:55:26 PM »
So my temp sensor at the water pump craped out. Apparently BMW has none anywhere in the USA! So I have oogled and googled all the Bosch sensor combos I can think off.........nada!    I figure my best bet is to find another bike that is water cooled that uses Bosch components? Any help apprreciated.

If you are referring to the dash temperature gauge sensor in the water pump and not the coolant temperature sensor behind the radiator, Bizz, there seems to be one here and another one there.

J.O., read my post. And yes, I managed to find that exact item you posted about in my search, it is not the sensor I inquired about.  I also found the one that Chaos posted that is cheaper, but it is also the WRONG SENSOR. It clearly states in my post "the sensor at the water pump". Maybe you should be banned for not reading the post clearly before replying! :mbird

Thanks Laitch,
How in feck do you catalogue all this shit.  I did the site:motobrick trick, Bosch sensor spade connector. All kinds of combos, all I got was the sensor behind the radiator.  I  even used it for other sites to try and find the damn sensor at the "WATER PUMP".  It isn't listed in Max's fiche  either.

Clearly, riding a motorcycle is not providing you with enough drama, Bizz. There were two links. What was the outcome at the bike bandit link? Not that I would be inclined to buy from an outfit that considers themselves bandits. Maybe they could change the name to bike band-aid.

Come down to earth with us hoi polloi and rely on the coolant temperature warning light in the instrument cluster. That system generates less worry-time. :giggles

Bike Bandit was not open when I tried to inquire, but I am inclined to believe it is the other sensor. There was no picture associated with the part.  And as Johnny so eloquently stated,  "a picture is worth a thousand words". I am betting it is the one in the stand pipe, behind the radiator, and on the top of the engine block.  I will let you know.  I try not to leave threads unresolved........even if there is no resolution! :2thumbup:

The idiot light is wholly unsatisfactory once you have tasted the glory of a temperature gauge.  And it helps you keep ahead of the game in the Summer heat by letting you decide when to turn on the manual fan switch if you are so equipped.  My thigh temperature sensor just ain't  t'what it used to be! :giggles

:giggles Not likely. It just makes you squirm.

What's the problem—overheating?

No problem. Preventing overheating is a function built into the bike, I just like to monitor it!

And I appreciate that the bike, and all its parts function as they should, not to mention the the sheer joy of "fixing" things.  And I am pretty sure I am not the only one here with that affliction!

Then it's the sensor at the water pump, its wiring or the gauge itself unless this is another one of those K1100 grooves with which I am out of touch.

The one in my fecking head!.............. :bang-head:

Hmm, according to that # from Bike Bandit, I cross referenced it with BMW parts and it says it is the sensor at the water pump! Hell yea, now is it in stock, and for $45 I am going to confirm it is the right part via phone.
