Hazard / turn signal whack
« on: April 28, 2018, 02:10:13 PM »
spent a few hours yesterday stopping my fuel leak. hooray, only took a few fuel line clamps I already had on hand.
Now I'm trying to sort out my turn signal issue. 94 K75s
When I press down the left signal button, they all light while depressed, but the signals do not stay on.
Same with R side.
When I depress the hazard switch, they all flash like they are supposed to, but when the switch is turned off, the R signals still  flash. When I pressed the R signal button, they went off.
Next time the L ones flashed, similar scenario.

I cleaned the contacts on all bulbs and switches. removed the relay , sprayed contact cleaner on contacts. don't know what else to do. Hoping it's not the $200 ! [Bobs BMW] relay.
advice? if I do need a relay, anyone have a spare or source.

I've read through many threads on this, one from Myrtle last year said : the TS relays are not really "dodgy".  the originals lasted 20 years.   they are cheap and easy to replace.  common part you can get at local autoparts store for about $10.

is he talking about the load shed relay? could that be my problem?

I'd be surprised that anything from BMw is cheap or easy, but there is always hope.

Oh, I also cleaned the battery ground [looked fine] , did the turn the starter backward thing, and for good measure lit incense and chanted in German.  maybe I used the wrong chant? which one does Johnny use?

Read through some more posts and though the fuses looked good, decided to pull them and reinsert. the signals now are working properly. Oh, after saying the Lord's prayer in high German, I ended with "Vater höre meine Stimme" . I think that's what did the trick. :2thumbup:

Just curious, don't know if you mentioned it before, but did this bike once belong to the TrueAce AKA Jim Cox?  He hasn't been around here for a while.

yep. I think he has his '12 S1000rr for sale on CL, I got to hear it when I picked up mine from him. man, that sounded sweet with the arrow exhaust. sure looks like his. He spends time in the Smokies, maybe he doesn't have internet there in the Mtns.

good grief, It's doing it again! If I press the turn signal button several times I can sometimes get them to work, issue on both right and left side.
