New to Me '93 K75RT

Hey all,


Just picked up my first BMW, a 1993 BMW K75RT.  I'm super excited about it.  I've always loved the stylings of the K bikes and now I've got my own!
I picked it up for $400, needs clutch work (splines lubed and possible clutch rebuild), has new tires and brakes serviced by dealership.  It's got a few scuffs but nothing major.  With 99,248 on the clock I'm looking forward to taking past 100K once the clutch issue is resolved.


My other bike is a 1982 Honda Nighthawk 650sc that I brought back to life and serves as my daily driver.


I'm eager to learn from you all and enter the smooth riding world of BMW motorbiking.

Welcome to the board....

Nice find for that price...that will be a different ride from the Honda.  Get out of the wind, different seat....just nice.  I do love those Honda's as well, Nighthawk was a good model.  I am still looking for a 700 to bring back to life.

Welcome! Great price! Thanks for the photos.

The single most important task to undertake is to remove the fuel cap assembly, remove the fuel then inspect the tank, the fuel lines and the fuel pump assembly for rubber disintegration. The second most important task is to do your balance exercises diligently because dropping RT and RS bikes at low speed or standstill is the first most common occurrence among their owners. That will send you on a hunt for mirror pods and signal lenses—a couple of the most rare and precious artifacts on earth.

The K75RT is designed for travel and is a smooth running rig. I hope you have a great time with yours.

First off, welcome to brick land.  :2thumbup:





I think I can save you a lot of trouble.  Do you really want to spend hours here, digesting tons o regergitated shit on how to repair and maintain your bike.  I mean within this forum there is enough info to do just about anything to that bike, dolled out by a bunch o smart asses you have never seen the likes of!
