At least that's what this oil sight glass is telling me:
It came out of the K1100RS I bought a few weeks ago. When I got the bike I thought it had been over-filled. (Not the first time I've seen that.) Then I went to change the oil and it remained black after I'd drained the oil so I learned it was a blackened oil sight window. A new one is $30+ and I don't want to spend a ton of money on this bike so I replaced it with a used one.
That is all.
