3D printed replacement tragkorb hinges

I've been finding more and more uses for 3D printed parts, especially as these bikes and replacement parts are becoming increasingly difficult to find.


So far I've successfully printed several parts from hinges to switches to tools. As I discussed before, if there is interest I may start a library as well as a request section for replacement parts.


I've attached the files as well as pictures of my latest design, the hinge section of the tragkorbs which seems to be a weak point.

Thingiverse is a great place to warehouse these 3D files.  Maybe create and place them in a "Motobrick" collection on Thingiverse so that there is an easy way for others to find all the files.

Very nice YE i would love to know what else have you created. I just bought a spare set of hinges which have just arrived $10.00 Au each in stock off M&W. I've replaced one complete set in twenty years. And mine have always given me warning of the impending disaster by one hinge always starting to split first. I only had to replace one side late last year at least twenty years old maybe twenty five. Maybe I've been lucky. If you feel inclined you might want to look at the ignition switch apparently the plastic part that is held on with the small grub screw is known to disintegrate. Part number 3 in the drawing. Keep up the good work. :2thumbup:

If I knew they were so cheap to replace I would most likely just have bought some. The only issue is that I needed to replace the hinges on both tragkorbs making a total of four. You said they are $10AU each? So that would be $40 plus shipping which actually gets quite expensive.


I buy ABS at $15 per KG so each hinge works out at about 50 cents. 


I will look into the part you mentioned. I'm also in the process of building a very simple and cheap 3D printed quickshifter which will work for all bricks.

Motor Works and Motobins 4.00 pound equals $7.00 Au. I hope they work as eventually the supply is going to dry up. The quick shifter has me intrigued.

So with advanced technology of 3D printing, and the requests for RS front turn signal lenses, hint, hint.......... not that I need them.
Maybe it's not possible, but it could be worth looking into.

YE, I concur with Martin...this white plastic piece to the ignition switch is subject to disintegration after so many years.  It's the tab for which the little LOC-TITED (grumble grumble) grub screw passes thru..it cracks as shown....

The problem with that is that to my knowledge there's no filament that provides the translucency and color factor. There's clearish PETG but I don't think it could get anywhere near the dispersion index required. No way it would pass any DOT requirement so reproducing them might be dicey from a legal standpoint.

So while I don't think making a 3d Print part with the dimensions that would fit would be too much of a problem, getting the optics right would I think exceed the limitations of the available materials.

I'll take a look at that ignition switch part, maybe I can print a facsimile some time soon...

 :2thumbup: You might get a few orders for the ignition switch covers. I've been trying to get a couple of cracked but intact K75s front indicators.
I wanted to separate the lens from the globe holder part and see if casting the lenses is doable. Looking at what's being achieved with the 3D printing it looks like it would also be possible to manufacture the back part.
