WTB: K75S Handlebar
« on: January 18, 2018, 11:48:29 PM »
Recently obtained a 1992 K75S.

One of the more... interesting.... modifications performed by a previous owner is that the handlebars have been narrowed.

I'd really like to correct this, if someone has an S bar and is either in the Florida panhandle or willing to ship it.

What is the current width between the ends of the grips?

Are they about 23" end to end straight across?  Those look normal to me, if the dashpad, switch pods and grips are all intact that's pretty much the length of the handlebar. At some point I think they made the S bars slightly wider but it was only and inch or so.

Look standard to me. When I first got mine I used to trap my thumbs on full lock. As the years progressed and my back tightened up I've rotated my bars up and back progressivley. I didn't have to change any hoses or cables . I did have to put extensions on the dash pad brackets and the dash cover.

I agree that it looks unmodified. However, I do have a spare handlebar that I'd be willing to sell. PM me if you decide that yours has, in fact, been modified and you'd like to buy mine.

Ah, how embarrassing... My first day and already made a fool of myself... Yes, the bars are at least 23" across.

While I'm making a reputation for being a hypochondriac though: I took the pad off to rotate the bars down, and am now convinced that the right side is sliiightly bent in/back. This seems to explain why the dash pad is more bunched up on the right, and is consistent with the scuffs on the front of the right lever unit.

Also, at full lock, my right hand is closer to the tank than my left. Perhaps the fork just rotates a bit further one way than the other, but...

I'll take another look later, and bring a pair of unbiased eyes.

Welcome, kinguin.

Why not introduce yourself in the Welcome to Motobrick section, show additional photos of your bike, tell us the mileage and your history with it? Put the bike's year in your profile, too, because parts can vary year to year.

After that, start a thread in the Motobrick Workshop that can cater to your hypochondria or an incipient Van Munchausen syndome by proxy and we'll all chime in concerning the likelihood of your bike's upper and lower fork braces being out of alignment.

This section is about buying, selling, trading and giving away stuff.

My s-bars got bent and by taking off the grip and sliding a 4ft iron pipe over the bar was easily able to bend it back .
