My Kingdom for a K100RS Right Turn Signal Lens

I'm looking for a good condition right lens for my K100RS. I did (shockingly) manage to track down an NOS left lens awhile back, but now I'm looking for a right to match. Doesn't need to be NOS, but it does need to be uncracked and have both the screw hole and retainer tab. P/N 46631453002

You may want to just give up on the BMW turn signals, and use after market turn signals and mirrors.  I've seen a couple bikes on the net with them, and they look pretty good, actually more up to date looking than those huge pods attached to the side of the fairing.

These can be attached to the fairing where the mirror pods were with no modifications needed.

You could sell your left lens and buy signals and mirrors with the proceeds.  Sell the mirrors and get a new rear tire.

Nah, I want to stick with the original mirrors and indicators. It's become somewhat of my white whale now.

I hear you.  I want to keep my bikes as original as possible too. 

It pisses me off that after my accident I saw a good pod laying on the ground as well as the mirror glass.  The impact must have knocked them loose, and they landed in the grass of the median.  The EMT's wouldn't let me get them, and the tow truck driver binned them along with taking all my tools(he did leave the empty tool roll, though).

That price is actually pretty reasonable for what you are getting.  I've seen the mirror glass go for up to 60 bucks and almost the same for the lens.  This seller is including the mount, housing and free shipping.

With the advances in technology making it to everyday/household turf, could these type of parts be reproduced with 3D light scanning and 3D printing quite cheaply? Even if you have the RHS, scan it, flip it, and produce the LHS.

In previous discussions about this possibility, passing a DOT/MOT inspection might be a problem because the lens will have neither the light dispersing qualities nor the DOT/MOT approval symbol. Many states in the USA have no inspection at all so such a printed lens might work, but in the event of an accident, components might be scrutinized by insurance adjusters for compliance failure.

We have some rapid prototyping capabilities at work, but translucent plastics don't print well. I'm sure somebody, somewhere has production-quality translucent 3d printing capabilities, but then you get to draw up the lens, which would be a feat in itself to really get correct.

The Fresnel angles of the lens are determined by the refractive index of the material used.  Even the density of the material can affect the transmission of light in the desired pattern.  I have seen molded lenses with the wrong density appear opaque to the transmission of light in the required pattern.  Optical properties of plastic lenses can be difficult to control.

Idea: Use a 3D printed replica as the model to create a mold.
Then you have an enormous set of materials you can use to cast the final product.
