WTB K75s Center stand
« on: December 03, 2017, 11:33:17 AM »
Hi, Went for last ride Saturday 02/12/2017. Put bike in garage and on center.
Center stand broke and bike fell over. More winter repairs. Would like to buy
a better  center stand for my 1988 K75s. Any help would be appreciated.
  Thanks Jethroww

The old style center stand was made from bent tubing. After you lose the rubber caps, rainwater accumulates inside the tubing and the ensuing rust makes your bike want to lie down and go to sleep.

Any K100, K75, or K1100 center stand will fit your bike. Look for an example of the new style, they're not hard to find on EBay or check here:

Every couple of years I fill my stand with LPS Hardcoat corrosion protector.  Let it sit for about an hour and then drain it back into another container. It can be reused that way. They used it when I worked offshore in Bass Strait (ESSO)it was known as LPS 3 and was extremely effective at stopping corrosion in a very harsh environment. I was at a local Sunday market and a seller had a container of LPS contact cleaner(LPS 1) and a container of LPS Hardcoat (LPS3) in what I believe to be in US 1 gal container, I can't find any size markings on either container. :dunno He apparently had been trying to sell them for weeks with no offers. I got both containers for $20.00 Au  a definite bargain. Made in the US and really good products.

That's cool. I just bought one of the new kind and sold my old one to some guy whose K-bike is now lying down in his driveway (or on his wife's car).
