K1100lt fork springs
« on: October 12, 2017, 09:21:44 PM »
i have read clymer's on this subject including a search of topics.  It looks like each stanchion has to be fully disassembled to swap springs. Involving a pulled tool to release the inner dampener and gain access to springs. Is this correct? Am I missing something? Any chance springs could be swapped thru top of tube access? How about a comparable tool to the Bmw tool?

Thanks guys for your help!

I needed no special tools to do mine on a '93LT. From memory just taking off the top nut of the tube (careful, it is under pressure by the spring) and the spring should come out. I disassembled the whole tubes to replace seals and bushes, not just the spring and needed no special tools, just normal hand tools. I was surprised how easy it was.
