Starter removal problem-1985 K100RS

Hope I'm not becoming a pest, but I'm sure someone can help. Trying to remove my starter, manual makes it sound easy....right...
I've removed the electrical connection and the two mounting bolts, and it is supposed to slide out towards the back, BUT mine won't budge. I even unbolted the coils to move them out of the way so I could get two hands on the starter, but no go. It wiggles a bit but will not move back.

I'm trying to remove the starter because my electrical system is completely nuts, and I read on here how the K100 grounds through the starter so I wanted to take a look at it. Maybe I'm just being a sissy-boy, but Clymer and Haynes just say to slide the starter backwards, nothing about needing a pry bar or sledge.

Any ideas ??

I only removed my starter one time but it did just slide to the back.  Time for a SMALL prybar.

They can sometimes be reluctant to come out. If they are not moving at all light taps with a rubber hammer can persuade them to move. Once they start moving it is a case of wiggle and pull. A mate had trouble removing his and his solution was to remove the alternator this allowed more room. He eventually freed it up with a home made slide hammer. A smear of Copper Kote around the mating surfaces will alleviate the problem next time.

The O-ring can get stuck due to age.  Use slip-joint pliers to grasp one of the legs.  This will give you more leverage with which to pull.  Wiggling does help but most effort should be straight backwards.
