Windshield Clarification

Anyhow, the windshield on my '85 K100RS is cloudy and somewhat yellowed. I've had good success bringing back yellowed headlights before, but wondered if anyone has had similar success with plastic polish kits on their windshields. Alternatively, if there's a solution I'm not considering, I'm all ears.

At the risk of violent sanctions from the search engine police let me say that trying to make an old windshield clear again is a fool's errand. 

First, they are clear coated to make them scratch resistant.  The coating is almost impossible polish and incredibly difficult to remove.

Second, depending on what a previous owner may have used on it in the past 32 years you may be dealing with a molecular breakdown caused by a chemical reaction with an incorrect cleaning agent.  This results in crazing that goes down into the plastic of the windshield.

My suggestion is to wet sand with 600 and paint it with a base/clear.  Match the rest of the bike, contrast, or go for black.  Have someone paint a flaming skull on it...
