K75 Exhaust Mounting
« on: August 05, 2017, 01:35:08 AM »

While I was giving the Brick a wash and wax I discovered that the rear muffler metal to rubber mount has separated. I  checked the new price from Moto-Bins and it works out to $40.50 with freight. Before I bite the bullet and order one, has anybody any suggestions on whether it is possible to either bond the rubber back to the metal. Or would it be better to replace the rubber part with silicone or something else.
Regards Martin.

Be aware that it exist two different versions, with or w/o tragkorb brackets mounted to the bike.
The one in the picture is for w/o brackets, on the version with brackets the part # ends with 982.
It's the width of the ekshaust bracket that is different.

think that although they are different, the tragkorb version will work in both configurations.  I took the z brackets off one of my 75's and the exhaust mounts up fine.

Just rang the local OEM dealer in Bris, $124.35 AU ex Germany. I was going to ring the local BM wrecker but I don't think my heart could take the strain. I going to ring the local Hospital and see what I can get for a kidney.

I thought that maybe the Brisbane OEM dealer might have made a mistake with the price. So I rang a Sunshine Coast dealer and made sure we were on the same page and quoted the item number just to be sure. His quote 4-6 weeks ex Germany $140.00 Au.  :yow Had a look elsewhere and I will be ordering one from Motobins $40.29 Au and that is with freight.  :2thumbup: I will be ordering one tonight, I have drilled and tapped the old bracket to take a 6mm allen bolt to keep me going. Mate has offered to lend me one if needed.

I got I bit suspicious about my Motobins order, had trouble ordering it. Every time I tried to pay it would come up with no items in basket. I contacted Motobins and the advised me to clear my browsing history. I did as requested and the order went through, however I got a bit suspicious when I didn't receive a confirmation of the order. I checked my bank statement and the money had gone through complete with order number. I decided to contact Motobins and check and they had no information on my order and requested how and when I had paid. I supplied all the details of the transaction, but I now have to wait until tonight OZ time to see what's going on.  The whole time difference thing can be a bit of a pain and I  normally  haven't had any problems with any US or UK suppliers.

Good thing Oz is such a fine place to live....beautiful weather, beautiful women! Those prices are brutal. If you get really stuck lemme know. Maybe it can go easier from where I sit and I'll post it over to you. When I called Oakville BMW (about 20 mins away from Hamilton) for my final drive parts the guy said he had the parts and would courier them to the Hamilton store for the next day. Sure enough....there they were. We are a spoiled bunch on this side!

Keep us posted, Martin.

Thanks Kris it's not all bad just picked up a set of injector service kits from a local European car specialist. "O" rings, spacers, filters, and three each of the three different pintle caps $15.00 Au.  Now I have to wait for Motobins answer tonight, they have been good in the past so I'm not expecting any trouble. I patched the old hanger so I'm not off the road.

All is right with my little world, part turned up this morning. I'm banned by the honorable Minister from working on or riding the Brick for a couple of days, so I'll probably change it on the weekend. Now I have to decide what I can spend the $100.00 I saved by going to Motobins on.  :lets-eat:
I wonder if I could eat a $100.00 of Beefy's eclairs.
