Any tips for strap-ons installation?

Looking to install a set of strap-ons bars.  Not trying to lower the front end, so would like to mount them just below the top clamp for the forks.[/size]I've been working on cars for 20 years but this is the first motorcycle I've customized (had bikes before but outside of slip-on mufflers and stuff, haven't had forks apart, etc).The front brake line appears to go through the middle hole in the triple clamp.  I don't see away around having to disconnect it and bleed the brakes to do this.  Are there any tips/tricks for this kind of replacement?I know there are some hinged strap-ons's out there that may not require this.  I haven't settled on something like that yet because of price, but am open.Thanks![/color]

Are you talking about installing clip ons?  Am I missing something here?   Just remove the front wheel, and the calipers from the lower fork tubes.  Loosen the clamps and slide the tubes down, put the bars on and slide the tubes up.

Yes, you will need 2pc / hinged clip on's to avoid disconnecting the brake line that runs through the head stock.
Removing the calipers would allow the forks to slide without disconnecting the brake line. Thank you Laitch for making me think.. :2thumbup:

Although, that task really shouldn't be that intimidating.. hardest part is keeping the DOT4 off your paint..

Thanks for that!  I cross posted these threads simultaneously (I'm not so impatient that I couldn't wait for a response on one forum, just thought I'd reach the most minds this way).

The caliper trick is a good idea, thanks.  I may end up getting hinged strap-ons anyway.

FWIW, this forum corrects "clipp-ons" to "strap-ons" and not during the preview - you can't tell it did it until your message is already posted.  Kinda stinks for searching. (I had to add the extra p's to even get it to post at all).
