I have been having problems with the speedo - I stripped down the cluster, cleaned connections, put in a spare speedo unit and reassembled, bench tested with karamba – all was fine on the bench test but the problem continued when back on the bike. I think I may have found part of the problem in the wiring between the plug to the cluster and the speedo sensor. The resistance between pin 22 and the connector to the sensor (under the sear) is zero whereas the ground pin 23 to the connector is about 400 ohms! Am I right in thinking here be the problem - the wire hanging on by one strand or something like that?
Which brings me to the second question - some of the wiring to the two cluster pins looks extremely fragile. From what I read it should be simple to replace the female connectors in the block - does anyone know the size and where I can find them. I also saw the price of a crimping tool can be high, again any ideas on a simpler/cheaper way to crimp the pins.
