DIGITECH AM FM SW MP3 Radio
« on: June 24, 2017, 03:33:00 PM »

Jaycar Strathpine had a end of financial year carpark sale on Saturday. I have been running my GPS and the music from my GPS through a $5.00 AM FM pocket transistor radio bought from Target for $5.00 Au. Although this has been fine, and the sound quality has been fine I decided a better system could be had. So I took the opportunity to grab one of these. It also has an alarm and sleep function. It will be a lot better I can now have music and GPS at the same time and the alarm will also come in handy when camping. The Honourable Ministers car's sound system stores music and takes USB sticks so I can get her to copy the ones I want. I have played a USB stick through the new units speaker and so far I am impressed with the performance. Due to the fact that the USB stick protrudes I might get her to download the music I want onto a 32 Gb micro SD card.  :riding:
Regards Martin.

Sweet Martin............................. mail me one will ya. I will forward the funds.   That is just what I wanted on my sailboat.................................and you have Target in Aussieland??  Seriously I love a nice portable mini that can do it all?  I have had a couple of shitty ones from Radio Shack, (Tandy), total junk and a big disappointment.  I really would love a great portable for camping etc.  I will have to see if I can get one here in the  States.

Your dream has come true, biz. Buy 10 of them and they're less than $21 a piece.

Thanks Laitch, I have more research for ya when your ready me know!  IE: how to get Bert Vogel to do a flow chart for the K11?! :yes (Buy him a k11?)

I almost dropped my dime on the link to the radio, cause I like it.......................but one question to

Martin:  Does it have battery back up in case the internal batteries go flat? The info on it doesn't say if it does or not.

Bizz it requires one of those flat Li-Ion batteries BL-5C which you can buy. However they can be charged from a USB port on your computer and I also have a charger stored in the tail of my brick, which I have for my mobile phone and it has a USB port. In theory I could use it running off the Brick's Battery. If you buy twenty you could sell them at a profit, I'm sure you could put Laitch down for a couple. Glad to see you have a US Jaycar. I've bought a few of their products over the years and had no problem so far. I've tried the radio using the Honourable Ministers USB sticks and we were both impressed by the sound quality and volume from such a small speaker. Hopefully I'll have some music downloaded onto a micro SD card for tomorrows ride. The Minister is also the Guru of music downloads I haven't got the patience. I'll post how it goes.

The Honourable Minister for Recreation Finance and Music has downloaded approximately 160 songs to get me grooving and bopping. With a 16GB card holding between 2500 and 3500 songs dependant on the length of song and the gap between songs. I still have room for 2340 songs at the very minimum. Sound quality is still excellent but is dependant on the original source, at this stage I am still extremely happy with my purchase.

Nice radio, but has anyone found an AM/FM portable that can send audio to the Bluetooth headset in my helmet?

Not to hi jack Martin's thread...................I have been looking at the flow charts, and everything else I can find.  But most of  the comprehensive information is for the jetronic.....................I have the motronic so it is scattered about, and piece meal.   Not like Bert Vogels most extraordinary documents on the jetronic.  Though much of the jetronic is valid. Many of the details vary a good bit.  You seem to have a handle on every bit of information available for all K bikes.  When ya gonna catalog it for us?

Gryph is this what you are seeking. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bluetooth-FM-Transmitter-Radio-Car-Kit-MP3-Music-Player-Dual-USB-Charger-MA1088-/232272923598?

Would this transmit directly to a bluetooth helmet headset?

Martin, what I am looking for is an AM/FM portable radio that has built in Bluetooth instead of a headphone jack.  That way I can send the audio from the radio directly to the Bluetooth speakers in my helmet.  Right now I am doing it with a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the headphone jack.

It works ok, but battery life is only a couple hours.  I would hope that I could find a radio that would send audio to my helmet for a whole day of riding.  I like the AM band because it is interesting to listen to the programs of the areas I'm riding through, hearing the news, advertisements, and what the local people are talking about.  Small town AM radio, what is left of it, is true Americana.

My dream radio would also have a search function so it would find and lock on stations as I passed through a town without having to manually look for them and a non directional AM antenna like a car radio so the radio wouldn't have to be oriented to receive a station.

Gryph I only listen to two AM station that play 50's 60's and a bit of 70's. Not much support for AM and eventually that will disappear as Digital takes over.I prefer music to chit chat so this is perfect for me. I've just got back from a ride so the Digitech is still going after 1.5 hours I'm going to run it until it's flat. Although I can charge off the bike.  Maybe one of the electronic inmates could come up with something. Hilltopper I've got no idea. :dunno At the moment I'm just going to bop until I drop.

You can charge it on the bike with a USB socket that plugs into your one of you bike's power sockets if you unplug your string of Guy Fawkes Day lights.

How do you guys have your radio mounted to your cycle?  Can a "portable radio" be wired to the cycle to avoid radio battery use?"

I'm still in the battery-powered MP3 with head phones era.

I have a battery powered portable with a Bluetooth dongle in the top of my tank bag.  It's easy to get to, but not out in the worst of the weather.

I have a USB charging cable in the rear tool box. I have enough room to charge the radio phone or both when I'm stopped in the tool box. Or I can run power to both while on the move. I don't really like running with cables running between me and the brick, but it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointed stick. I rang Jaycar to clarify charging, as there is nothing in the instructions. He told me two for maximum charge and on inquiring about overcharging I was told it was a smart little critter and it won't overcharge.

No, I guess I was looking at the Aussie website.  There is where I saw the statement about "No ship to USA."

Shipping for one of these puppies on the US site is $15.  Kinda pricey.

Surely a clone of this nice radio will show up on someone's website, perhaps fleabay.
