Hi Guys, this is a re-post as i think i put it in the wrong section before.
Here goes - my Kbike is almost finished and ready for MOT here in sunny Britain -
all that remains is new tail lights. and to tidy the front light array.
i bought an inexpensive trailer dual tail running/brake light moulded integral 12 v LED combination (groan) Unit to replace the missing OEM unit. since this is a rat project, i discarder the tail moulding as none of the interior tail lights remained and bought a tail tidy. the original harness connector block remains attached to the loomharness and the indicators i bought snapped in and worked right out of the pack.
however. following the owners manual wiring diagram and the lights provided colour coding (white=earth, red=brakes Brown =tail)i run into this outcome -
in the 1st ignition switch position the running light is on (dim) but when the key is turned to position 2 (all live) and started i get full illumination even when the brakes are not in use. ive tried switching the red and brown over, now all i get is the brakes on/off fron and rear switches both working (yay!) but no dimmed "running light"
stated Current drawn at 13.8v is 0.11A for Stop and 0.02A for tail. am i missing something here?
ive seen people use 2 diodes and a resitor to get this to work but by making a 1 into 2 junction as their strips all have 1 live rail (single function leds).
can i do the same thing but with a single diode and resistor inline on the tail light? would i have to add a diode to the other "stop" lights rail?
do i need to add or subtract anything else due to this being 21st century LEDS on a bike built for incandescents?
