On this model there is a lever to engage 2wd, but no differential so it can only be used in mud & snow.

Gents:
Let's face it. We are all playing with fire here. And the better halves have, in my opinion, selective memories. Be careful when trying the "but you said it was alright" line regarding procurement.  It might depend on her mood as to whether she recalls that. Piss her off and the ultimate question might be "What's more loyal? A good Brick or a good dog?"

Have a nice day....

Saw a Ural and talked to the owner last winter(He was out in 8" of snow and 10 degrees F).  I am smitten with the agricultural look of that machine.  Reminds me of the old Massey Feguson and International equipment the old farmers around here used.

It has been my experience that the 'sig other' can chirp away all day and say nothing of consequence ... however when they really have something to tell you they become silent and communicate telepathically and with telekinesis [burning glare at your back]  :yow

telekinesis will move you to action.

I suggest each of you maintain an emergency "Brick S**th***e" to move into, think of it as a mancave.

I will be cataloguing all the bits and pieces of this 'kit' bike this weekend to see if it can be resurrected.  One feature it does not have is ABS.  If I was to fit ABS to it is ABS II doable or worth it ?   :dunno   Actual wrenching on this will have to wait for warmer weather though ,,,, -22 C is Saturday's forecast high and my garage has no heat  :musicboohoo:

My view is no ABS is an advantage, and I would not consider adding it. As for Urals, I have tried to walk away four times from my addiction in the past 20 years, only to come crawling back. I have accepted my Uraldiction now, and I am happy with my present Ural, especially since they added disc brakes and fuel injection. My next project will be grafting a Ural car to a K-bike to make a Kural.

Bill, might be lots of work to add ABS to a non-ABS bike.  Harness, sensors, electronics, etc. could be a headache.

Would that be a 'Kural' for both the K virus and Uraldiction  ?

The wiring aspect doesn't faze me but the fitting of compatible ABS II calipers etcetera to an older K is a concern.  As it is a ways off I'll put that idea to rest for now.  My brief ride with ABS has me liking it though.
