Alarm wiring
« on: October 12, 2013, 06:56:38 AM »
Hi people, I am in the process of getting ready to install a bike alarm on my 1992 K1100LT. I've come up against a minor issue which hopefully someone out there will know without my having to dig through wiring looms. I need to find a switchable live which is on when the ignition is on and off when the ignition is also off. Any help with this would be very much appreciated, Thanks in advance  :bmwsmile

In the relay box you find a round white connector which is for the factory alarm, the green/brown
wire is switched power.

Or if you don't have factory heated handles.........this connector you find at left rear under the fuel
tank. It's a two pole connector ... green/black and brown wires ... the green/black is switched power.

Hi there Inge.K. thank you so much for the swift reply, I shall take a look at the connector. Would I be right in thinking that some of the other wires on this connector are positives for the indicators ?

It isn't any connectors for the indicators..........it's a four pole connector:
Unswitched power, switched power, ground and and output to the horns.

As a additional info it can be mentioned that the switched power at the green/brown wire is connected via fuse #7.

As a additional info it can be mentioned that the switched power at the green/brown wire is connected via fuse #7.

And the un-switched power on the red/green wire is from fuse #4
The green/grey is for the horns and brown is ground.
