Shifting out neutral, dies within 2 seconds.
« on: October 15, 2025, 06:17:13 PM »
1985 BMW K100 starts okay, revs up okay. When I put it in either 1st or 2nd gear (i.e. not Neutral), not immediately, but less than 2 seconds it does. What could cause this?

This Brick was a "not running when parked" that I've brought back to life this Fall.

The clutch cut-off switch is dis-engaged. I have not checked the Sidestand switch, but am pretty sure I tried kickstand down/ up, and got the same responses.
(yes, I understand, need to have the kickstand up to go. :-p)

There's no OEM starter switch connected to the sidestand of a 2V Brick like the '85, so put that in the WIN column. icon_cheers

Can the rear wheel be rotated by hand when the transmission is in neutral?

Is it possible that the clutch might be dragging?
