Front brake light switch
« on: September 13, 2011, 09:34:39 AM »
It seems my front brake light switch has become unreliable, I guess because I've left the bike out in the rain quite a bit. Symptoms: The brake-lights don't come on when I press the brake lever, and the triangle warning light tends to stay on even after I've used both brakes.

Any suggestions how to best attack this? I only briefly looked at the lever, and it seems there are two separate wires going to it (in addition to the actual brake line)?

Thanks,
Frode

It's a simple piston switch that can be unscrewed. (Part 61311459569.) Not uncommon for them to get clogged and sticky with dirt or the spring in them fails.

The other wire is a pointless ground.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Since you are familiar with the norwegian language, this thread may help.

Sorry Inge, didn't understand a word on that thread...oh hang on, I did see WD40. That's how I cleaned mine. Soaked it in WD40 and it came good.
I hope yours is as easy to get working again Frode!

Sorry Inge, didn't understand a word on that thread...

You should try some Norwegian lessons, it`s far more easier to learn than spelling DeoxIT.
