Pop Rivet size for tragkorb latches
« on: May 16, 2017, 06:54:55 AM »

I had to purchase a used side cover/lid for my left saddlebag/tragkorb. I've purchased two different length pop rivets and none have worked. SAE size 1/8" diameter.

Cab anyone tell me in inches what size pop rivet I need to rivet the cover latches onto the cover?

How have they not worked? Describe what happened. Don't be so shy about supplying information about the length you used either. Approximately 1/2"/13mm length should do it.

Go get the correct length and follow the instructions of your rivet-installing tool. It will be life-changing.

I went the pop-rivet route which was a very lucky outcome for the kids I never had.

I used 1/8" on mine, with washers.  Don't remember the length but it was a standard size.  I had the compressed side of the rivet on the inside of the case, but I have the old style latches, newer ones may differ.  Not particularly life changing.

Which latch type?  I just riveted some of the flat-key latches yesterday, using 1/8" x 3/8" rivets and washers under the heads.  The newer latches (with the round locks) may need a different length.
