Usually vents in the windshield are to reduce the low pressure pocket behind the windshield, reducing noise and buffeting.  Those winglet things you can direct air with would probably help,

Crazy, Thanks for your input.

My heat problem is on my legs, not my upper body.

The blast furnace is coming from between the bottom of the gas tank and the top of the motor somewhere and exiting more on the left side than the right.    :musicboohoo:

I get the heat on my legs with my Pichler as well. I'm thinking of fitting a fuel cooler like gryph did as it seems it works wonders

K75's don't get as hot as the bigger bikes, but eliminating the airbox with a little cone filter seems to have helped mine.  Opening up that space on top of the engine lets the air move more freely or something.

Chaos, Do you have any pics of the airbox conversion?

It was originally a CC products kit, just a plate bolted to the airflow meter with a lip for a KN cone filter, and a rod to support the unit.  I've had this on since the 80's, no problems with the engine ingesting dirt and bugs as K&N naysayers would suggest.

That's probably right,  I've seen a couple pop up on ebay.   Wouldn't be too hard to fabricate one I'd think.

I purchased NOS OEM vent "wings" in the original box that mount over the lower fairings on my 85 K100RT.  Understand they were BMW's late year (1989?) solution to customer  complaints about the heat.  They actually work by creating a low pressure area alongside the bike essentially "pulling" the hot air away from the bike.  They have a definite airfoil shape that in my opinion works quite well.  Some wind tunnel work here.

Been in place 2+ months and there is a dramatic difference in the heat around my legs.  The residual heat that normally radiates upwards around the fairings and gas tank is almost unnoticeable now.  Plus the fan comes on even less than before.

Original Kaw Concours 1000's had an accessory "scoop" that mounted on their fairing sides that might be easier to find.  It just directs more air across the riders legs.

Here you go.  Top view shows the airfoil design.

so am I trying to create an area of negative pressure to draw air out, or focus more air in to blow hot air away in the summertime?

Hi there Chaos,

I am curious as to what you did about the air breather hoses, if any, when you installed the aftermarket air filter unit?
