Eliminating fuel level float

 Putting together a K100 scrambler, and decided to junk the factory gauges. Why keep the fuel level float if there is no fuel level light...........unless the lack of that sensor would affect the engine management unit. Can anybody testify as to the consequences of simply not installing the fuel level float?

None. Only real wiring needed to the fuel tank would be power and ground for fuel pump.

If you haven't removed the BMW instruments yet I'd suggest taping over the Low Fuel light for a while and see how you like living without it.

It's an integral part of the dynamic K-kinetic fuel stabilizing system.  Resistance of the float keeps the gas from sloshing around.  Removing it may void your warranty!

Ha! Or is it "LOL.....LMAO" these days. I have so much history riding bikes which had NO fuel display......you look in the tank, right? After all , this is a " scrambler", heavy as a GS, but in the spirit that less is more, I am gonna leave out the floppy as I rebuild the the fuel delivery.

It's doable, as Scott says.  You'll loose low fuel indication though.  You might get all your money back by selling the old fuel level sender on Ebay.

good point.  Seems most tanks are missing caps, pumps and senders.  But isn't the sender attached to the bottom cap, which you'll still need to keep gas in the tank?

He'll have to manufacture a new base plate with a fuel tight passthrough for the pump wiring.
