My 85 k100rs had a gas leak under the tank which resulted in a FIRE! Fortunately, this happened just outside my garage and I was able to extinguish it quickly...only a matter of a few seconds. Very glad I had a fire extinguisher nearby!! Anyway, after it was extinguished, and leaving it sit outside for a couple of hours to evaporate the spilled gas (one of the supply lines on the tank had come loose), the bike started and ran fine, except the fire had melted the Bowden cable (throttle cable) and the throttle was locked at idle. Before replacing the cable, I removed the air box to survey the extent of other damage. The air box suffered some cosmetic damage at the front at the latch but I was able to find a replacement air box assembly on ebay for $8.00, so no big loss there. The wiring all appears to be fine except the wires going to what I think is the injection valve. These two wires concern me. One appears to go to a ground on the fuel rail...insulation, if there was any, is completely gone...just a bare copper wire is left. The other wire goes to the valve itself. This one feels "brittle" now and I definitely want to break into this 2 wire harness and splice in new wiring at some point further up. Has anyone had any experience with this "injection valve" wiring? It is the apparatus on the fuel rail mounted on the inside towards the front of the rail. In other words, looking at it from the right side of the bike, the valve is on the right side of the rail, towards the front of the bike, and visible only when the air box is removed. So far, I have not been able to remove it from the rail...still working on that. Any comments?
