Front Brake Stuck On

For the short story skip down.
I was riding home this afternoon when I noticed that no matter how much throttle I gave the bike would not accelerate. Then when I'd pull in the clutch the bike would decelerate quickly. Then when I finally did get up to speed the bike had a VIOLENT shake in the front, at which point I decided to pull over. I parked in a Wells Fargo lot and noticed that it was quite difficult to walk the bike around it felt like they were stuck about half on. I pulled on the front lever and it moved almost without resistance. I hopped off and went to inspect the brakes and they were HOT. I was going to pull the brake lever off and check it but I had no flathead in the tool kit. I settled on working the lever repeatedly, letting the brakes cool and gave each of the calipers a couple of good love taps with the wrench at which point they released. I then rode home.

I'm not sure whether the stick was in the master cylinder or in the calipers but either way I dont want it to happen again and my gut says something needs some lubricant, but I'm not sure exactly what. I did recently change the brake lever, but I did grease it. Where should I look first?

Seems like MC piston haven`t returned fully, usually caused by corrosion and/or crystallized brake fluid
at outer end of the bore.

I'm with Inge...if they were both stuck it's the MC.

Makes sense to me, I'll open it up, clean it out, and hit it with some silicon spray. Thanks

If it's not the m/c, check for collapsed or blocked brake lines.

Make sure both holes in the bottom of the MC container are open. If you look into it you'll see what I mean. One is larger than the other.
