fuel pump test?
« on: April 17, 2012, 06:41:09 PM »
I've removed the fuel pump from my K75 and removed most all of the primordial goo which was the rubber vibration damper.  The pump, when connected to voltage makes a buzzing sound, but does not pump and produces no torque.  Is this pump salvageable?

Thanks!

You can get them apart but its hit and miss if it goes back together properly. Probably best to get a new one but no need to buy OEM http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,2058.0.html

Are you SURE it's not working?  Usually if it whir that means it's working.  Stick the base in a small jar of gas and power it up. (Smaller diameter terminal is positive.)  Probably a good idea to hook a hose up to the output on the top and have that pointed somewhere safe. (Not your eyes.)

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Though flammable gas is not nearly as explosive most people assume it is.  (Thank you. TV.)

Just do it outside in a well-ventilated area and you should be fine.

I suppose you could use water though.
