For sale 1994 K75RT
« on: April 06, 2023, 03:50:15 PM »
Selling Ilsa my 1994 K75RT horizon chaser.  Time marches on and my touring days are over.   She has 99,680 miles and runs perfectly despite a bit of noise from the balance shaft that has been there since I got her with 54,000 miles.  Bike has been very well maintained and I was planning on a 9,000 mile trip to Alaska before having to change plans.  I wouldn't hesitate to jump on it today to ride to the West Coast.

He's not going anywhere; he's gonna stay right here using his knowledge to herd cats into the maintenance corral to teach 'em tricks. He's trying to sell his Brick, not his soul.  :laughing4-giggles:

Anybody who wants a Brick but ignores this well-maintained and thoughtfully documented specimen with all its spares and tools doesn't have sense enough to ride anything.

I'm not going anywhere yet, at least I hope not!

I still have Moby Brick Jr. for doing immature things around the neighborhood, I just don't think I can do the long distance touring I used to do anymore.  The last oil change I did on Ilsa I was shocked to see that she only had a little over 1,000 miles since I did it last year.  They don't like it when you leave them in the garage.

I also need the room for the Mazda MX-5 i bought a couple years ago.  The old lady doesn't ride the bikes anymore, she likes the roadster thing now.  I hated leaving it out in the driveway all summer when I wasn't driving it.  Getting Ilsa out will make room.

You should take 600 pictures of it and list it on BAT. :idunno:

I was thinking about that but read the reviews on it today.  Selling a car or a bike there is a crapshoot, and the place appears to be crawling with trolls who can severely affect what your vehicle will sell for.  Their "consultants" are the ones who determine whether or not your vehicle will be auctioned, what, or even if, your auction will have a reserve price, and what photos will be posted.  They also oversee the comment section on your auction and can allow or remove comments that can substantially affect the bidding.  There are a lot of people who are awful unhappy with that company.

Their "consultants" are the ones who determine whether or not your vehicle will be auctioned, what, or even if, your auction will have a reserve price, and what photos will be posted.
That makes it like auctions I've attended in person; it's all down to accepting or rejecting the auctioneer's contract when you're the seller, and calculating your possible take accordingly. As far as their overseeing "the comment section on your auction and can allow or remove comments that can substantially affect the bidding" that's done to increase the bid  price—which is a good thing for both the seller and the auctioneer. It prevents the process from being infested by trolls with personal agendas—commercial or otherwise. All buyers anywhere should exercise due diligence regarding flaws of motos that attract them. If there are "a lot of people who are awful unhappy with that company", those people qualify for naturalized citizenship in the Nation of Victimhood—already taking your whiney, your angry, your huddled masses yearning to gripe free.  There is a lot of people awfully unhappy about something everywhere. :laughing4-giggles:

What you're doing, Gryph, is generously giving somebody an opportunity to own an excellent Brick with a reserve parts and tool supply at a reasonable price. It's admirable! This is the first time of seen something like that on the Web. I'd be doing intake interviews of prospects to determine if they deserve it and handing out packages of M&Ms to the rejects.

You might attract even more buyers than BAT if there's graffiti and windblown trash in your next batch of photos.  :laughing1:

As luck would have it, I have a potential buyer who is very interested in her.  For all practical purposes at this time, I am considering Ilsa, She Wolf Of The SS, sold to a fine young man from Texas.

Regarding negative comments at BaT, several reviews have mentioned unusual negative comment activity that would drive away bidders to allow a vehicle to be sold for an unusually low bid.  There has to be a reason that BaT has a 1.3 star rating with no reviews with more than 2 stars.

About graffiti and trash.  Where I live all we get is the occasional Silver Bullet can out by the road.  For any graffiti I would have to travel 25 miles into Buffalo, and dammit, I'm way too lazy for that!

I have no artistic ability, and besides, the price of a couple cans of spray paint would cut too far into my margin.

Gotta love the Miata.  We have three and manage to fit two in the garage along with the K and one of the airheads.  Toy box management... 4265249878 :laughing1:

I find your rescue box choice really interesting.  I would have never considered a couple of those items for my carry-on box.   How did some of those items make your list, things that are due?

Rescue box:

 Hall sensor plate
 Fuel pump
 Coil
 Spark plug leads
 relays
 Temp module
 Bulb monitor
 Starter relay
 Thermostat
 Ignition module
 Coolant pressure cap
 Z tube
"Every time you criticize my grammar, I like you a little bit fewer."

1995 K75 RTP, 1995 K75 RT, 1993 K75, two K75 frames, 1 fully assembled engine from airbox to exhaust tip and enough fairings and  parts to build another K. Soon.  ;)

Which items are you referring to?  My criteria for the rescue box is:

1.  Any part that when it fails will make my bike unusable to get home

2.  Any part that is not readily available at a NAPA or other auto parts store, requiring an order at a BMW     dealer for delivery from the factory in Germany.

3.  Anything in my home inventory that would be difficult to explain to my wife over the phone.  Have you ever tried describing the Hall Sensor Plate or the Z tube to your wife so she can find it in your spare parts collection?

I just carry an extra $300 cash. That way I can get a cheap hotel, a hooker and some blow to drown my sorrows.. I'll deal with the bike tomorrow.

I keep all the parts beside the ones I carry in one of two drawers in my garage. As per Gryph some things would be hard to describe to the exalted one. So in order to simplify things I have decided to label everything and to make it fool proof I'll take pictures of all the parts. If needed I'll send the name of the part along with a picture of it and it's location.

I think he did.  Great minds and all that.  You kinda have to think ahead when planning to be up in the woods 3-4,000 miles from home on a 30 year old motorcycle.
