Show me your K1100RS wind Deflector Vane fix..
« on: June 01, 2022, 12:58:24 PM »
I expect there are others faced with the dreaded broken Air Deflector Vane Tabs, as shown here. Yes, they can be bought new, at +/- $200, but wish to avoid the poor OEM design that will likely break again! Has anyone here come up with a way to hold the vane in position?  After trial rides to figure out where it works best, how have you held it in that position? At the moment, I have small rubber bushings at each end to help center the vane. I am looking for a way to hold the vane firmly, and realize the method used may not be pretty! Does anyone here care to show their fix?    🛠.

So far no suggestions.
It’s been 2 weeks of random thinking which span overly complicated designs, and then Tape, I have settled on a simple idea. Not terribly noticeable or ugly, it seems to work OK, and allows change if required. Likely will not.
Started out overly involved, ended up simple:

  • Not too many bikes. Garage too small.

Brilliant KC. Having already glued one of mine I might try two just to spread the pressure out.

Good fix. icon_cheers

Not sure why BMW made that part adjustable. In my experience the only worthwhile position is tilted all of the way forwards.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.
