well, lots of frustration but progress has been made. I ran a volt check on the connector and was reading 11 to 12 on green and white. so I pulled the pump, connected it to my battery and it worked without issue. while it was hanging outside of the tank I decided to give it a try to see if it might work while turning the key. to no avail. so right now it appears that my motorcycle is not energizing the pump. I also did check the fuse which was not blown. seems to be fuel pump relay?

The pump won't start until the starter button is pushed when the ignition switch is On.

If you're getting voltage at the green and white wire from the wiring harness side of the connector when you try to start then both the fuse and FI relay are good. The FI relay sends power to Fuse 6 that then goes to the green/white wire for the fuel pump power.

If you get voltage at the green white wire when you hit the start  button and you've confirmed that the pump works then it is most likely the connector going bad or, worst case, wiring in the fuel level sender.

Connect the tank. Connect your voltmeter to smaller terminal fuel pump wire inside of the tank (probably a faded yellow wire) and see if it gets voltage when you spin the motor with the start button.

It is not uncommon for fuel tank connectors to have issues.

I actually had to replace my fuel tank connector once already. About five years ago my Bosch was replaced by the trailer 4-pin. I'll attach a picture of the heresy.

I'll give the test a try on the yellow wire.

I had a K100 guy come by house one day who had just run some wires under the gas gap to the fuel pump.  Pretty ghetto solution but it did work. :laughing4-giggles:

To quote Alex Jones, "Im Kinda Retarded" a mechanic solve this issue for me. originally. The symptoms weren't exactly the same but your spot on it ended up being the issue that plagued me 5 years ago. My brick is running again! going to go right around and hope to restore faith in it, but this old bastard was the issue. I clean the absolute crap out of it with electric cleaner, but I'm probably going to have to replace the female component at some point. thank you all very much for your help. you guys are invaluable

Have you tried unplugging and plugging all the way in the big connector to the ECM? It is located on top of the battery, accessible from the LHS removing the side panel.

The connector is the fuel injection/fuel pump relay connector pictured in post #35 of this thread.
