Hi fellas,
Some wear and tear after 70,000 miles, but look okay to me?
-
The driveshaft spline you show is starting to get sawtoothed but still has several thousand miles left on it.
The photo of the rear drive spline does not show condition well enough. Take another photo directly in front of it and just slightly above it with good lighting. Right now it looks excessively worn but that appearance might be an effect of the photo's angle.

That driveshaft is trashed. FD is in same condition.

A little harsh :bmwsmile , but most likely the case. The miles did not do this..lack of grease did. Option 1, drive it until it shells out (Laitch most likely is right). Option 2, spend a lot of money (there are other splines on the bike, when the rear looks that bad, the others are worn most likely). Option 3, create a donor bike...Good luck

Should be more like this.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170512/2698457e26dab8035c48d4b151455e60.jpg)

i will post photos today after thoriugh cleaning, the final drive might not be so trashed after all :)

The driveshaft on my 91 was a little worse than that at 30,000 miles. I started lubing it at every tire change and got another 30,000 miles before it was worn to the point of near failure.

Now that right there is confidence! :2thumbup:

I wasn't all that confident. I carried a spare driveshaft on trips.

at least now i have an estimate :deal:

The spare would allow for even more confidence. Let's not look behind the curtain, Tx.

From what I see there, I wouldn't be worried if that were on my bike. Invest in a new driveshaft when you have enough euros.
